It's a boss. They're designed to be hard. Also, you can always have several attempts versus him: just escape, heal at Blackheart, think what you have done wrong, optionally swap Blackheart for Tempestpaw or vice versa and try again! Actually, it's somewhat easier than defeating the fox yourself.

Maybe it's jsut me but...I"ve never found him hard? He's never even brought any of my cats down to half HP. He;s not easy I agree there but I've never found him particularly difficult either

I suggest having Blackheart to poison it, and let Kestrelpaw to hamstring it, Nettlepaw to tornado strike, and it will be easier

It's easier if you go with Blackheart and leave Tempestpaw behind, since he can heal you,as well as poison the rat king. Then make Nettlepaw/claw use whirlwind strike almost all the time and make Kestrelpaw hamstring the rat king as well as focus on the other rats, then your character can focus on the rat king. This worked for me,I got Silverpaw to only focus on the rat king,Nettlepaw on the rat king and the other rats,Kestrelpaw on the rat king and other rats, and Blackheart on the other rats and the rat king, mostly on the other rats though. Sure Nettlepaw will "die" but you will defeat it soon after. Hope this helped.

I have never had trouble with the ratking... What I do is bring tempestpaw because if you can get him to use the really strong finisher (forgot what it is called), you can lower the HP, so Nettlepaw/claw can then use finishing strike. I usually try to get kestrelpaw to stun the ratking, and when there are many rats, have nettlepaw/claw use whirlwindstrike. I never really have trouble with this technique.

I normally bring Blackheart with me. I use deep cut to make ratking bleed, and use Poison Claws to poison him. I normally focus on the other rats, spamming whirlwind strike with Nettlepaw, and using a free character to strike the ratking from time to time.

I attack the rat king, whirlwind if he summons too many. The one time I tried the other way, I lost.
