{My apologies, I had marching band camp and driving school. They took up a lot of my time, but now the band camp is only in the evening and I don't have any more driving classes}
Aspenstar The tom perked his ears at Hawkstep's call, and hurried over to the she-cat. He saw the creature's muzzle which made his fur bristle. Aspenstar's ears pinned back and his tail lashed defiantly. Should we keep it cornered, or should we lure it into the open and surround it? He paused for a few quick heartbeats, trying to think what was safer. Having it cornered would panic it even more and we can only hit its muzzle, which means it could bite us easily. In the open we could maneuver, but so could the fox. "Let's lure it out into the open. We'll just get bit if we keep it trapped," ordered Aspenstar, taking a step towards the fox. It poked it's entire head out of the den, its brown eyes locking onto him with what looked like a glare. StarClan, protect me and my Clanmates...
Sootfang "Hmm, lemme think," he said in reply to Hollyfrost's question. He slowly looked around, turning his body down stream and then up stream and he tried to recall where he had saw them. Sootfang was briefly distracted when they found the horsetail, but then it clicked. "It's more down stream. It's pretty rocky where the coltsfoot is at."

Hawkstep flicked her tail to tell Aspenstar she had understood, before hissing again at the fox. She leapt at it, trying to stick her claws in the fox's nose, and quickly backed down. -Come fight, you stupid mangepelt! she growled. There, come on, come out...
Hollyfrost sat down next to the horsetail. -Oh? Then we'll be looking there later. Stormpaw, look. You have to cut the rods using your fangs, like this, she explained, as she catched a rod to cut it. Cut it the closest to the ground you can. But don't forget, you must never take the whole plant, unless you have no other choice. A plant can't survive without it's leaves or roots, and if you take all the flowers or seeds, the herbs won't regrow on next Newleaf. Thankfully, there's enough on that one. Now, take as much as you can hold in your mouth. She got away to watch how her apprentice was doing.

Stormpaw nodded slowly as he raised his paw to cut the herb. Cutting the herb slowly, not wanting to do anything wrong, Stormpaw cut the herb from the stem. "Like this?" he checked, with a worried glance towards his mentor.

(I thought about this, and if the moonstone hasn't been discovered, does that mean AspenStar has only 1 life?) "Ok Aspenstar, and how exactly are we to get rid of a fox? If we get to close, it will bite us. But we cant attack from further away. And there are not that many warriors in the new clan you have formed. I think we should be smart before going into this." Talking about the fox made PigeonWing terrified. He knew this was the only way to keep the clan safe. He watched as his leader took a step toward the fox. "I feel like his bravery might kill him."

{on mobile} {yes, Aspenstar only has one life.} {also, you're accepted Heavysleep! Muddypaw's mentor will be Hawkstep} "Don't worry Pigeonwing, we'll keep its attention between the four of us. Stay light on your paws!" Hawkstep had lured it out a bit, the fox now baring its teeth as it got its shoulders out, pulling itself forward. In a few heartbeats, the fox was completely out in the open. "I got this turn," informed the gray tom, quickly moving to the creatures left side and hissing to draw its focus. The fox's back was still to the den; they had to lure it farther out. The fox growled at Aspenstar, rushing towards him but then stopped in a mock attack. Even so, the tom quickly backed up, keeping distance between him and the foul-smelling creature. 'Great StarClan that felt close,' thought Aspenstar.

(Whoa, Hawk has an apprentice! Admit it, you know Hawkstep might be terrible at mentoring... Especially to an apprentice whose personnality is perfectly opposed to hers. Now, any suggestions on her to integrate Muddypaw in the story? I'd like at least one of my OCs to not make such basic mistake as to forget their apprentice in their den...) (Okay, listening to Been to Hell of Hollywood Undead made the Hawkstep scene sound just epic. Then, while I was writing Hollyfrost, it switched to Apologize and Comin' in Hot... Extremely weird...)
Hawkstep backed away from the fox as Aspenstar distracted it. She felt like she missed a heartbeat as the fox's jaws snapped right where Aspenstar was standing a second ago. She crept up to the fox's other side, and yelled at it: -Come here, you mangy beast! as she leapt on its flank and stuck her claws in the ginger fur, and backed away again. The fox was faster, that time, and she felt the sharp fangs tearing her left ear. Hissing, she backed away further. -Guys, do something! It's mad at me, now!
Hollyfrost nodded at her apprentice in approval. -Yes, like this. Now, let's take some more. Then, we'll be looking for that coltsfoot. She unseathed her claws and cut a dozen more rods. She gave a quick look at Stormpaw to ensure that he was doing well. -Um, looks like we have enough. Come on, take your rods, and follow me. She turned back, and looked up downstream. -You said it was there? For all the trouble we're having to find it, I hope there'll be a ton of it! She begun to head to the direction Sootfang had indicated.

Stormpaw nodded quickly and turned his attention back the the batch of herbs in the soil. Unsheathing his claws again, Stormpaw cut more of the stems and scooped up the bundle once he had finished. He looked towards the direction where Sootfang had directed and shook out his fur.

(( I think maybe to avoid Hawkstep 'forgetting' her apprentice, perhaps Muddypaw is still Muddykit until her apprentice ceremony? Or, she could just have been briefly out of commission after an injury. Could explain the kink in her tail, since I was just going to have that as some pre-existing condition anyway. ))

{Yes, either of those will work Heavysleep, as long as Crimson is fine with it as well just let me know what you decide} {I also picked their opposing personalitys on purpose. Aspenstar is that kind of leader lol} Aspenstar The gray tom released a low growl, his claws digging into the ground. When the fox bit his fellow warrior's ear, he bellowed a fierceous yowl and surged forward with the anger he felt, his claws slashing across the fox's dark back legs. 'Hopefully that'll slow it down,' he thought with a grunt, quickly moving at a back diagonal as the fox whirled around. Aspenstar stumbled briefly as he moved back, but managed to stay on his paws and the fox didn't attempt to exploit his mistake. 'Maybe it's being more cautious now...' Sootfang Sootfang let them take the lead, his left ear giving a twitch and a slow swish of his tail. His gut was having a strange knot feeling. 'Hmm. What's causing this? There has to be a logical reason...' The dark tom focused on Hollyfrost's statement about the coltsfoot, telling himself to evaluate it later. "Don't worry, there's a decent amount," he said breezily. He paused for a moment, and then asked, "um, do you have any herbs that'll help with soreness? I uh, don't expect any since I know stock is low, so I can live if there's none." Sootfang rushed the last part, not wanting to add weight to the Medicine Cat. 'Knowing all these herbs and not having much of a supplies...must be frustrating to know how to help but have no resources to work with.'

(For the Muddy - Hawk Apprenticeship, maybe Muddykit could come out to where the fox is, and Aspenstar can tell him to call Hollyfrost, and gets apprenticed for that or something. Just an idea.)
"Maybe we could try to scare the fox away? I feel like it might be our only chance." PigeonWing was not ready to get close to the fox. "Perhaps we could stand our ground?" PigeonWing knew that the whole clan was to fight for.

(I agree with Muddypaw still being Muddykit yet, and being apprenticed later in the RP, I mean, later in the Clan's day. Also, I like waterstar 's idea about it. Now, just find a way to apply it in the RP...) (I'm wondering if I should get Hawk to do something very brave/stupid, and get even more injured? Ahem... Of course, I should, that's part of her concept!) Hawkstep drew back from the fox, creeping under a near bush. She licked her left paw, and passed it onto her ear to clean it up. And, there we are. Hollyfrost will kill me if I come back any more injured. But... I can't leave Aspenstar and Pigeonwing deal with that alone...
She sneaked out and behind the fox, as Aspenstar slashed at it's legs, and perked her ears at Pigeonwing's remark. Uh, good advice, but that's yet easier said than done... You should try to help us, too...
She shook her head at this thought. I shouldn't think this about my Clanmates... Now, what to do with the fox? ... I should try to injure it's eyes, a blinded opponent cannot fight properly, maybe it will run away instead...
Hawkstep launched herself towards the fox, leaping on it's head, using both her front and back legs to hold on it. The fox shook it's head, trying to get her off, though she managed to reach what she thought was an eye with her claws. At that moment, the fox reared up, and the speckled warrior lost her grip on it's head, being thrown against a tree. She lost her breath as she got slammed against the trunk. Ugh... Everything hurts... Hope I actually did something, apart from angering it...
She tried to get up, her whole body now aching. Hollyfrost paused shortly at Sootfang's question. -Of course, I could give you some herbs for it. Yet, comfrey is mostly used for wounds or sprained claws or shoulders, but it can also work wonders for soreness. If we find some, at least. Though, it's not a rare plant, as long as the soil is damp and grassy enough. I mean, there will proboably not be much more use to it for now, unless my sister manages to get herself in trouble, like her only can do. They were still walking downstream, when Hollyfrost caught a scent of Hawkstep and Aspenstar's patrol. Uh? Certainly they went hunting there. Certainly nothing to worry about...
The ground was getting more rocky. That probably was where Sootfang had seen coltsfoot. -Stormpaw, don't forget to keep an eye on that coltsfoot. It must be close.

(After reading Hawksteps line again, Hawkstep sounds like larktail)
PigeonWing watched in horror as Hawkstep jumped onto the fox. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The fox threw Hawkstep towards a tree trunk. Fourtunatley, Hawkstep had got to the foxes eyes, and clawed them. The fox froze for a moment, before dashing away. "Hawkstep, are you okay?" Oh dear, PigeonWing thought, our clan has already faced a grave danger.

Stormpaw gave a quick nod towards his mentor as he parted his jaws to search for the familiar scent of coltsfoot. Whipping his head from side to side, Stormpaw checked the ground for any signs of herbs. "Found any yet?" he called to Hollyfrost, continueing his search.

{wow, Hawkstep does kinda seem like Larktail now!} {Let's have Heavysleep decide how they want Muddypaw incorporated into the story before we role play anything relating to Muddypaw}
Aspenstar Aspenstar gave out a hiss as he danced in front of the fox, not daring to pause and give the ginger creature a chance. At Pigeonwing's suggestion, the leader quickly said, "that's fine, as long as it's gone!" As the gray tom was readying himself to do a fake jab so one of his clanmates could jump in, Hawkstep attacked the fox's face. "Hawkstep! You reckless..." Aspenstar fell silent when his clanmate was thrown into a tree, and there was a few agonizing seconds where he wondered if she'd ever get up, or if the fox would swoop in to finish her off in her weakened state. But instead, he watched the speckled she-cat try to her paws and saw the fox's bleeding eye. The fox howled angerly as it fled, hopefully to never be seen here again. Aspenstar hurried over his loyal Warrior, letting Pigeonwing ask if she was alright. "Hey, take it easy, it's probably best you don't stand right now. The fox is gone." His yellow eyes glanced around, making sure he was correct about that. "If you want to stand, then you'll have to lean on me."
Sootfang The dark gray Warrior listened kindly to the Medicine Cat, nodding as she spoke. He chuckled when she mentioned her sister. "Well, it's better than nothing," he answered. Sootfang joined the two cats in searching for the coltsfoot, trying to see anything familiar that could lead him to the herbs. He inhaled the scents around him, catching some strong scents of the herb and whiffs of TalonClan cats, which he dismissed. After a minute or so of following scents and looking for familiar landmarks (had he seen it near that scraggly weed? Or was this a different weed? Was that pale rock near those herbs? Oh, no, just a random rock), he managed to stumble upon the yellow plants. "Oh, hey! They're over here!" His eyes scanned them, noting there numbers. 'Huh, there's more than I remember. That must be good,' Sootfang thought.
